Vaani uses macOS Accessibility permissions to identify frontmost target application windows. Insertion executes through targeted AppleScript events, with an automatic fallback to an encrypted sentinel clipboard buffer that restores your previous clipboard contents immediately.

The prototype targets macOS 14 Sonoma and macOS 15 Sequoia on Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) as primary development targets, with Intel x86_64 builds verified in testing.
Does Vaani run locally on macOS?
When transcription is fully local, audio stays on your device. In cloud mode, audio is sent to the provider you configure.
How do I download the macOS build?
We distribute prototype builds directly to early-access testers via the waitlist. There are no public release installers until verification completes.
Can I customize the trigger shortcut on Mac?
Yes. While Option+Space is default, you can configure your shortcut in preferences.
